Our Mission

The Dwight Hall Socially Responsible Investment Fund (DHSRI) at Yale is the first undergraduate-run SRI fund in the country. Our committee consists of 20 Yale College students who manage a portion of the endowment of Dwight Hall. We employ a modern approach to socially responsible investing (SRI) that aims to have a positive environmental and social impact while outperforming standard investment benchmarks. It is our hope that our portfolio will contribute to the success of Dwight Hall, inspire the creation of similar funds at other colleges, and make SRI both accessible and exciting to college students. In 2016, DSHRI co-filed on a shareholder resolution with ExxonMobil, marking the first time a shareholder resolution was filed by a student-run fund. Since 2016, DHSRI has continued to file on shareholder resolutions with a number of Fortune 500 companies.

In April 2019, DHSRI hosted the first-ever Student Conference for Corporate Responsibility (SCCR), bringing together students from over 22 universities to build a coalition of undergraduate investment funds for the purpose of corporate responsibility and shareholder engagement. The conference also hosted 15 speakers and investment professionals representing organizations including Morgan Stanley’s Global Sustainable Finance division, the Shareholder Rights Group, Trillium Asset Management, the Intentional Endowments Network, and other major financial institutions.
